Daniel Glen Timms
as Jake Wells
Daniel Glen Timms - Director’s biography
Daniel is a singer, songwriter and musician, who has been producing his original music for over forty years, including five albums, an EP and several singles. His music has been played on over 500 terrestrial radio stations worldwide. He created thirty music videos over almost three decades where he learned the techniques that he used in his first feature film, "Cumberland." He drew inspiration from the beautiful environment and music culture in the Nashville area, where he has lived for the last twenty years. When you listen to Daniel's songs you will realize he is a natural born storyteller, and with the visual stimulation of his surroundings of his ranch on the Cumberland River, along with his inner drive to tell a story through imagery, his writing and directing of his new feature film was a natural progression in this artist's epic journey.
Director’s Statement
Living here on my ranch for the last 17 years in Middle Tennessee on the Cumberland River, just outside Nashville, I have filmed numerous music videos in this area. All of this filming inspired me to make a movie. I was into acting when I was young and I have always been a big film buff. I felt divinely inspired to make this film. I kept capturing miraculous shots and it felt like God was guiding me to make a narrative feature film. So, I wrote a screenplay to tell a story that was important to me. Once I started production, I realized that if I used the assets that I have like an incredibly beautiful landscape, and locations here on the ranch, along with my ability to film, edit and produce music/sounds, that I really could create a great film, if I was patient and smart about it. That was five years ago, when I decided to do it. What I didn’t realize was that it would turn out to be the adventure of a lifetime.
My musical and audio engineering skills came in handy during production and post-production. I spent over a year on the soundtrack, writing and recording a lot of new music, as well as, using some of my existing library of songs and master recordings. I also did the sound design. So, although the budget was low, if I calculated my costs for the time I spent, which was thousands of hours, it would actually be much more. Otherwise, this film would have never gotten made. I hope to see it on the big screen with an audience, because the audience was always who I had in mind, as I made this film.
